When three civilizations separately invent the same medicine, the medicine works.
  • Berberine is bright yellow and was used as a textile dye across Asia for centuries. Buddhist monks' saffron-yellow robes were sometimes dyed with berberine-containing bark — which means their clothing was literally antimicrobial.
  • Only 5% of berberine you swallow reaches your bloodstream — and that's not a bug, it's a feature. The other 95% is busy remodeling your gut microbiome, which may be where most of the metabolic magic happens.
  • Berberine reverses antibiotic resistance. It blocks the efflux pumps that MRSA bacteria use to pump out antibiotics. Berberine + antibiotics can re-sensitize resistant bacteria — one of the most important discoveries in the fight against superbugs.
